Transferring Over
Ooh, introductions on forums are always such a pain. You stick around with other communities for specific interests for years, and then wind up someplace new and have to wonder "alright, what won't make me sound like a socially inept basement dweller?" Well "who cares" says I!
I'm hopping over from the 17th Advanced Strike force, which is ran by a gaming community I've hung around with for quite some time. Unfortunately, even at our "peak" we had seven active-ish members, and since then it's declined to where I'm the only one even logging into STO anymore, let alone with any regularity. Knight (Jeff, whatever he goes by here), recommended this fleet to me, as I've known him for a decent while through another game. Once he figured out I played STO and was looking for a new Fleet, he got me an invite pretty much as soon as I could log in after getting home from work.
It's been a long time since I've played another 'Trek game. The last being Star Trek: Starship Creator Warp 2. When it came out. So, it's only been over a decade since I touched it. But I've been playing STO off and on again since the week it went F2P, and I'm working on a nerd milestone of re-watching all of the Series. I'd seen them all piecemeil on TV when they aired, but never in long continuous chronological runs. I've gotten through TOS, DS9, and just hit season 5 of Voyager (lord help me). Needless to say I don't have much of a social life for a large portion of the year at a time.
I play a bit of everything as far as other games go. Presently with any frequency I'm playing STO, Planetside 2, Battlefield 3, Blacklight: Retribution, Mechwarrior Online, or Hawken (though not since it got out of closed beta, been busy with other games). Minecraft, Payday: The Heist, Killing Floor, and Artemis I'll play whenever I've got some pals up for some sillyness either online or via LAN.
In STO, I've done very little PvP, and typically prefer PvE. My main is an Engie, and I enjoy floating around in my Star Cruiser and trying to pretend I can do decent DPS pugging around in Elite STFs. My attempts in a Patrol Escort have been less than spectacular, though that's mostly an issue of my BOffs not being set up at all well for both ships.
My main's Pirate@strikyre. I've also got a Klingon by the name of Privateer (who does very little other than get me around 1k Dilithum a day).

Re: Transferring Over
Welcome to the Ninth Fleet, I'm Commodore Gadget, Director of Personell. Application accepted. What timezone are you from? This is to assign you to a squadron. And I am certain that you will enjoy this fleet. We have more than 7 people!

Thanks for the greetings, all!
